Retrofit as a service for aviation – Converting the world’s existing fleets of aircraft to electric power

14:00 - 14:30 uur @ Tent 2

Clearwings B.V. is a startup that is developing retrofit technology to convert existing 2-19 seater aircrafts to battery-electric power, helping private owners, enterprise fleets, and logistics businesses eliminate their environmental footprint through Clearwings’ proprietary battery systems and retrofit process. Retrofitting as a business model is a huge opportunity to not only generate significant revenues, but also provides a faster way towards sustainable aviation as compared to making clean-sheet aircrafts. This creates new channels for regional mobility and transportation, such as for pilot training, recreational flying, regional air mobility and emergency response as well.

Kshitij Dadhekar is the Co-founder and CTO at Clearwings. He has spent a majority of his professional life working on electrifying mobility. From tractors, rickshaws (tuk-tuks) to airplanes, Kshitij has developed advanced powertrain and battery systems for vehicle electrification.

At the New Energy Forum, Kshitij will explain how Clearwings works on electrifying existing airplanes to eliminate direct CO2 emissions and lower operational costs. He will discuss the challenges and opportunities of designing retrofitting kits for existing airplanes and the road towards certification and selling them in the international market.
