About the speaker
Kees Vendrik (1963) is the chair of the National Climate Platform, the link between society and policy. In 2022, he was nominated by the cabinet as the independent chair of this platform.
As chair of the electricity sector table, he played an important role in the creation of the Climate Agreement in 2019.
From 2017 to 2022, Vendrik was chief economist at Triodos Bank and in 2019 he served in the Senate for GroenLinks.
Prior to that, he was a member of the Netherlands Court of Audit for six years.
From 1989 to 2010, he was a member of the House of Representatives for GroenLinks.
Kees Vendrik graduated as a political scientist (international economic relations). In addition to his role as chair of the NKP, he holds several other positions. For example, he is chair of the Temporary Emergency Energy Fund and chair of the International Responsible Business Conduct (IRBC) agreement on renewable energy.
