About the speaker
Aniek is a shaper of the future, transition expert, and climate specialist. She previously served as chair of the Dutch Youth Climate Movement, where she represented one million young people in the national climate debate. Her expertise focuses on themes such as climate justice and broad prosperity. She holds an academic background in 'Societal Transitions' (Erasmus University) and 'Liberal Arts and Sciences: Global Challenges' (Leiden University College). In addition, she is a member of the independent Expert Team on the Energy System of 2050, commissioned by Minister Jetten. In July 2023, she was appointed co-chair of the Board of Trustees of WECF International (Women Engage for a Common Future), where she advocates for the voices of young people and women within international climate and sustainability agendas. Since April 2025, she has also been a member of the Board of Trustees of Greenpeace Netherlands, an independent and unpaid body responsible for overseeing the organization’s resources and strategic direction. Furthermore, she is co-founder of the FUTURE DESIGN INSTITUTE, where she and her team support organizations in making structurally informed long-term decisions. Aniek is committed to representing the interests of future generations and to advancing the imagination of their needs.
